New Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has revealed that he has been diagnosed with typhoid but insisted that his health condition will not weaken the ongoing nationwide agitation demanding accountability over the NEET examination controversy.
In a video message shared on social media on Saturday, Dipke said medical tests confirmed the infection and that he is currently undergoing treatment. According to him, doctors have advised regular intravenous medication, and he is receiving IV drips twice a day as part of his recovery.
Despite his illness, Dipke maintained that the movement would continue with the same intensity. He thanked supporters and students participating in demonstrations across the country, praising them for keeping the protests peaceful and disciplined.
He expressed confidence that sustained, non-violent demonstrations would eventually force Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to step down, describing the minister’s resignation as the central objective of the campaign.
Dipke’s remarks came a day after activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his prolonged hunger strike. While welcoming Wangchuk’s decision, Dipke said his recovery was important but clarified that CJP’s agitation would not be called off until its demands were addressed.
Earlier in the day, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka reiterated the party’s uncompromising position, stating that there was little purpose in continuing discussions if the government was unwilling to consider the resignation of the Education Minister. He described the demand as “non-negotiable.”
The protest movement has placed three primary demands before the Centre: the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a written assurance that peaceful protesters will not face legal action, and financial compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide in connection with the NEET paper leak controversy.
On Friday, senior Union ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh met representatives of the Cockroach Janta Party at the Constitution Club in New Delhi to discuss the demands. Government sources indicated that the Centre would review the issues raised before responding in a subsequent round of talks.
As negotiations continue, CJP leaders have signalled that protests will remain active until they receive what they consider a satisfactory response from the government.
