New Delhi: Students seeking a second look at their Class 12 board examination results can now begin the review process, with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) activating its post-result portal for verification and re-evaluation applications.
The board has introduced a modified system aimed at improving transparency and giving students greater insight into how their answer sheets were assessed before they opt for a formal review. The updated mechanism allows candidates to first obtain scanned copies of their evaluated answer books, enabling them to examine markings and awarded scores before taking the next step.
According to board officials, the portal was launched after completing technical refinements and system testing designed to ensure a smooth and reliable experience for applicants. The rollout had been delayed briefly to accommodate these upgrades.
Under the revised procedure, students dissatisfied with their marks can request verification of scores and subsequently apply for re-evaluation of specific answers. Unlike previous years, candidates are now required to inspect their answer scripts before submitting requests for rechecking or reassessment.
The fee structure has also been updated. Students will be charged Rs 100 per subject for verification of marks, while re-evaluation requests will cost Rs 25 per question. Applicants must clearly identify the questions they wish to have reviewed after comparing their responses with the marking scheme and evaluated script.
The changes come amid ongoing discussions regarding the board’s evaluation practices, particularly concerns raised by some students and educators about discrepancies in marking and the functioning of the digital assessment system used during examinations.
Education experts believe the revised process could help reduce confusion by allowing students to make informed decisions before seeking a review. By granting access to scanned answer books at an earlier stage, the board aims to increase confidence in the assessment process and limit unnecessary applications.
Students can complete all post-result formalities through CBSE’s online portal. The board has also made support services available to assist candidates facing technical or procedural difficulties during the application process.
