Kathua: Security forces apprehended an elderly Pakistani intruder on Friday after intercepting his movement in a forward area along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. The interception was carried out by vigilant troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) near the border security fence in the Bobiya area of the Hiranagar sector, preventing any unauthorized advancement further into Indian territory.
According to official sources, personnel from the 82 Battalion BSF stationed at Border Out Post (BOP) Bobiya detected suspicious movement approaching the border fencing during the morning hours. Alert troops swiftly challenged the individual and took him into custody near boundary marker post number 23. The apprehended person has been identified as a Pakistani national estimated to be between 60 and 65 years of age.
Following the arrest, security personnel transferred the individual to a secure facility for comprehensive joint interrogation by intelligence agencies and local police authorities. Investigators are examining the exact route taken to breach the frontier, whether he crossed inadvertently or deliberately through local nullah channels, and the broader purpose behind his presence in the sensitive forward zone. Officials noted that no immediate recovery of weapons or contraband has been reported so far, though a thorough sweep of the surrounding terrain was conducted as a standard precautionary measure.
