Chandigarh : Further strengthening the resolve of “Healthy Haryana, Prosperous Haryana” and taking a significant step toward ensuring better healthcare and a dignified life for the people of the state, Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for nine major healthcare projects worth over Rs 100 crore at a state-level event held in Panchkula. Haryana Health Minister Kumari Arti Singh Rao and Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Shruti Choudhry were also present on the occasion.
Further, free dialysis facilities were launched at Maharishi Chyavan Medical College, Koriawas (Narnaul), and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College, Chhainsa (Faridabad), at an annual cost of Rs 3.60 crore. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for “Amrit Pharmacies” in 23 district hospitals at a cost of Rs 1.73 crore to provide branded medicines at affordable prices to the general public. Additionally, a special disaster management training programme for 4,600 ASHA workers was launched at a cost of Rs 0.91 crore.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the day was especially significant as the nation is celebrating 12 years of dedicated public service under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi. He stated that the historic transformation witnessed in India’s healthcare sector during these 12 years has been unprecedented. He informed that the current financial year’s budget includes provisions for CT Scan, MRI, and digital X-ray machines in the remaining districts as well. In addition, the tendering process for introducing MRI services in 13 more district hospitals has already been completed. In the coming years, citizens of Haryana will be able to access world-class diagnostic facilities within their own districts.
He said that healthy citizens are the greatest asset of any state. Keeping this vision in mind, the government has made a historic increase in the healthcare budget. This year, the health sector budget has been increased by 32.89 percent, with a total allocation of Rs 14,000 crore. He further stated that when the government assumed office in 2014, the state’s healthcare budget stood at only Rs 2,646 crore, which has now increased manifold.
Addressing the event, Health Minister Kumari Arti Singh Rao said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini, unprecedented progress has been achieved in various sectors, including healthcare. She stated that the present government’s objective is not merely to provide treatment, but to ensure better, affordable, and timely healthcare services for every citizen. She added that the projects launched by the Chief Minister today will directly benefit lakhs of people across the state.
