Chandigarh: In a major effort to curb the state’s talent exodus, the Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has achieved remarkable milestones in job creation and skill development in 2025. Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora revealed that over 59,000 permanent government jobs have been provided since April 2022, alongside initiatives to facilitate private sector employment and self-employment opportunities.
Arora highlighted that 59,702 youth have been appointed in government departments, 48,912 have been placed in private sector jobs through 959 placement camps, and 10,064 have been guided toward entrepreneurship via loan camps. The Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) trained 19,619 candidates, while the state’s own “Punjab Hunar Vikas Yojna” and collaborations with tech giants like Microsoft, IBM, and NASSCOM are preparing youth for global and corporate roles.
The government’s official portal, PGRKAM (https://punjabrozgar.org.in/), has emerged as a key platform, registering over 22 lakh job seekers and 20,669 employers, and hosting 1,316 Job Melas to bridge the gap between talent and employers. Mr. Arora asserted, “Punjab’s youth no longer need to look outward for growth. We are systematically delivering appointments, skills, and entrepreneurship opportunities to build a self-reliant Punjab.”
Punjab has also set national benchmarks in defence training. The Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute achieved an 82.45% NDA success rate, with 34 cadets joining NDA/equivalent academies and 17 commissioned as officers. In a historic move, Punjab launched the first state-run NDA Preparatory Wing for girls at Mai Bhago Institute, with 10 lady cadets selected for officer training and seven commissioned this year. Additionally, 8,017 youth were trained at C-PYTE centres for armed and paramilitary forces, with 1,236 placements secured.
