Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has once again showcased its spirit of service and respect for religious faith. In Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, an AAP MLA participated in a cleanliness drive alongside the Sangat, performing Seva at the sacred land of Mata Gujri Ji and the younger Sahibzadas. The MLA worked shoulder to shoulder with devotees, holding a broom and cleaning tools, reflecting the government’s humility and commitment to public service at one of Sikhism’s most revered historical sites.

Recently, the Punjab government declared Sri Amritsar Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Fatehgarh Sahib as Holy Cities, a historic decision aimed at preserving sanctity, improving cleanliness and promoting religious tourism. Special development plans have been prepared to upgrade infrastructure, enhance pilgrim facilities and protect the religious environment of these cities, while boosting employment and economic activity.

Addressing the Sangat, the MLA said the Seva was not symbolic but part of the government’s long-term policy to keep Punjab’s holy sites clean, developed and spiritually vibrant. Locals and religious bodies welcomed the initiative, saying it marked a new approach where elected representatives actively serve the people on the ground.
