Special Task Force seizes 223 grams of Heroin in Jassur,Three drug traffickers arrested

Shimla: A spokesperson of the police department said today that the Special Task Force (STF) of district Kangra intercepted three suspicious individuals near Shastri ITI, Jassur, and during the search recovered 223 grams of Chitta from their possession.

The STF, tasked with strengthening the resolve of a ‘Chitta-Free Himachal’, was on a routine patrol in the Jasur area when it received credible intelligence regarding the smuggling of chitta near Shastri ITI, Jassur, and acted swiftly on the information to intercept the offenders.

The spokesperson stated that all three accused were arrested on the spot and necessary legal action was initiated against them. A case has been registered under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Nurpur, Police District Nurpur. Further investigation was under progress to ascertain the source, supply chain and other possible links in the drug trafficking network.

This coordinated action reflects the unwavering commitment of the state police to curb drug trafficking, safeguard the youth from the menace of substance abuse and promote widespread public awareness against narcotics.

The spokesperson added that any information related to drug trafficking or narcotics could be brought to the notice of police by dialing 112 or reporting at their nearest police station. The identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched a statewide anti-Chitta campaign on 15 November 2025 and to ensure the success of the campaign and to strengthen the resolve of a ‘Chitta-Free Himachal’, the state police and the STF continues its sustained efforts across the state.

Under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister and with the active participation of the people of the state, particularly the youth, the police department remains firmly committed to eliminating the menace of chitta and building a drug-free Himachal Pradesh.
