Shimla: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has mourned the death of former Minister Major Vijay Singh Mankotia, who passed away at his native village Tiara in Kangra district today morning. He was 87.
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that Major Vijay Singh Mankotia had contributed immensely for the development of the State particularly in Shahpur assembly constituency of Kangra district. He said that his contributions made for the welfare of the society will be remembered by the people for a long time.
The Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss. Major Vijay Singh Mankotia was elected to Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha in 1982, 1985, 1990, 1993 and 2003. He served as Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation and Law from 1995 to 1998 and from March 2003 to July, 2004.
