Chandigarh: The Haryana Government is continuously working to provide better healthcare facilities to State Government employees, pensioners and their dependents. In this regard, Health Minister Ms Arti Singh Rao said that beneficiaries are now directly availing the benefits of the ‘AYUSH Medical Reimbursement Policy’, implemented in May 2023. Under the policy, medical expenses incurred by eligible beneficiaries for treatment through traditional and natural systems of medicine are reimbursed by the State Government.
She said that the primary objective of the policy is to promote traditional systems of medicine alongside allopathy and provide employees with a wider range of healthcare options. Treatment under Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) is covered under the policy. The initiative is providing considerable relief to patients suffering from chronic ailments who prefer traditional and natural therapies over allopathic treatment.
The Health Minister said that special emphasis is being laid on empanelling hospitals to ensure effective implementation of the AYUSH policy and provide quality healthcare facilities to patients. So far, the AYUSH Department has empanelled 18 private and specialised hospitals under the AYUSH Medical Reimbursement Policy. Beneficiaries can avail treatment through AYUSH systems at these empanelled hospitals and subsequently submit claims for reimbursement of expenses in accordance with the provisions of the policy.
She said that the State Government further aims to strengthen this network in the coming years so that employees and pensioners residing in remote areas can also avail the benefits of AYUSH healthcare facilities nearest to them.
The Health Department believes that the policy is not only strengthening traditional Indian systems of medicine but is also significantly reducing the burden of unforeseen medical expenses on lakhs of families associated with government service, said the Cabinet Minister
