Chandigarh: Haryana Social Justice, Empowerment, Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Backward Classes and Antyodaya (SEWA) Minister, Krishan Kumar Bedi, said that the glorious contribution of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand will be remembered in the world of sports for generations. His extraordinary skills, remarkable achievements despite limited sporting facilities and challenging circumstances, and an illustrious sporting career earned him global recognition as the ‘Wizard of Hockey’.
Krishan Kumar Bedi said that Major Dhyan Chand will always remain an icon and role model for sportspersons. His dedication to sports remains as relevant today as ever and will continue to inspire generations of players.
The Cabinet Minister was addressing a sports competition organised at Navdeep Stadium, Narwana, on Saturday evening to mark National Sports Day. He attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
Notably, the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand is observed across the country as National Sports Day. To mark the occasion, the programme was jointly organised by the District Hockey Association and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club, Narwana, in Narwana, Jind. The Cabinet Minister also felicitated outstanding players who participated in the hockey competition organised on the occasion.
