Shimla: The first phase of Census-2027, titled House Listing and Housing Census, would officially commence across the state from 16 June, 2026 and would continue until 15th July, 2026.

A Spokesperson of the Directorate of Census Operations, Himachal Pradesh informed that the training of all enumerators and supervisors had been successfully completed in all the districts. This year’s census was being conducted digitally, with enumerators using the HLO Mobile App for data collection.

He said that the citizens who failed to complete self-enumeration through the online portal would be covered through door-to-door visits during the census period. They would collect information through 33 officially prescribed questions relating to housing conditions, household composition, access to basic amenities such as water, electricity, sanitation and food grains, as well as the availability of household assets.

The Spokesperson said that for public safety, residents may verify the identity of enumerators by scanning the QR code displayed on their official identity cards. No bank details, OTPs or financial documents would be requested during the census.

He has appealed to all residents to extend their full cooperation and be part of this important national exercise.
