CHANDIGARH: Amid rising tensions due to the US-Israel-Iran conflict, the Punjab Government on Monday launched 24×7 helplines to assist Punjabis stranded in Central Asia and the Middle East. Speaking at Punjab Bhawan, NRI Affairs Minister Dr Ravjot Singh said the state is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating efforts to ensure the safe evacuation of affected citizens. He also urged early coordination with the Central Government to expedite relief measures and facilitate the return of Punjabis abroad.

The helpline numbers 0172-2260042 and 0172-2260042 for foreign nationals, along with 1100 for Indian residents, have been activated to provide round-the-clock assistance, guidance, and coordination with relevant authorities. Minister Singh emphasized that calls from Central Asia, mostly from Punjabi tourists, are being addressed, and the government stands firmly with every Punjabi stranded abroad to ensure their safe return.

A special committee under ADGP NRI Wing R.K. Jaiswal has been constituted to oversee monitoring and coordination. The NRI Affairs Department, in collaboration with the Home Department and other agencies, is actively collecting data of affected individuals and implementing emergency plans. Dr Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment, stating, “No stone will be left unturned to protect the interests of Punjabis abroad. The safety of every Punjabi is our top priority.”
