BATALA: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced development projects worth ₹177 crore for Batala, aiming at a large-scale upgrade of the city’s infrastructure. The projects include ₹95.72 crore by the Municipal Corporation, ₹16.05 crore by the Mandi Board, and ₹65.09 crore by the Public Works Department for road construction. Additional allocations have been made for road renovation, new bridges, a modern bus stand to ease traffic congestion, and ₹14.81 crore for the establishment of new police lines.

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, the Chief Minister said the initiative marks a decisive break from past regimes, accusing previous governments of neglecting public welfare and weakening laws related to sacrilege. He asserted that the current government is focused on transparency, accountability, and people-centric governance, while also highlighting its welfare initiatives in education, health, power, and employment generation.

CM Mann also reiterated his government’s achievements, including free electricity benefits, large-scale government job recruitment, and health insurance schemes providing cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh per family. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who also addressed the event, praised the leadership of CM Mann, stating that his government is working for public welfare with a strong focus on development and accountability.
