Faridkot: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday announced development projects worth ₹28.68 crore in Jaito, highlighting major investments in healthcare, water supply and sports infrastructure.  Community Health Centre will be upgraded into a 30-bed hospital at a cost of ₹8 crore. Additionally, a ₹3.01 crore pipeline project will supply clean drinking water to around 1,200 households, while a new sports stadium will be constructed at a cost of ₹2 crore.

Addressing a gathering, Mann said the 2022 mandate in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has set the stage for fulfilling the dreams of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. He claimed his government is focused on delivering better healthcare, education, free electricity and financial assistance to people, contrasting it with the performance of previous governments.

Launching a sharp attack on the BJP, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal, the Chief Minister accused them of promoting nepotism and criminal elements in politics. He alleged that these parties failed to work for public welfare during their tenure and instead indulged in corruption and misgovernance. Mann also criticised the Centre, stating that rising poverty and lack of basic amenities like cooking gas reflect misplaced priorities.

The Chief Minister announced that a special session of the Punjab Assembly will be held on April 13 to introduce a stringent anti-sacrilege law. The proposed legislation includes provisions for no bail for one year and punishment up to life imprisonment.

Referring to the 2027 Assembly elections, Mann said voters will have a clear choice between traditional parties and AAP’s governance model. He reiterated that his government is committed to building a “Rangla Punjab” through development-driven policies and transparent governance, ensuring that public funds are utilised for the welfare of people.
