Chief Justice of India Addresses Convocation, Inspires Students to Contribute to Nation

Chandigarh: The 12th convocation ceremony of the Central University of Haryana was held with great enthusiasm at the university campus on Saturday. Surya Kant attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Sheel Nagu and Rajeev Ahuja were present as Guests of Honour. During the event, a total of 1,462 students were awarded degrees, including 827 postgraduate, 557 undergraduate and 78 Ph.D. degrees. In recognition of outstanding academic performance, 50 students were awarded gold medals, including 30 women.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Justice Surya Kant urged graduates to serve society and remember the sacrifices made by their families. He emphasised that education is not only a means for personal success but also a powerful tool for nation-building. Encouraging students to remain humble and disciplined, he said strong character, perseverance and sound judgment are essential qualities for achieving success in life.

Vice-Chancellor Tankeshwar Kumar highlighted the university’s academic achievements, noting that faculty members have published over 3,000 research papers and secured more than 115 patents. He added that the university continues to strengthen its research ecosystem and infrastructure while promoting diversity, with students from across 25 states studying at the institution. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of degrees and recognition of academic excellence among the graduating students.
