Chandigarh: With Independence Day fast approaching, the Chandigarh Police have ramped up security measures across the city. On Monday, the city’s Director General of Police (DGP) conducted unannounced inspections at various high-sensitivity areas to evaluate preparedness and reinforce security protocols.
Accompanied by senior officers, the DGP visited strategic points across Chandigarh to assess on-ground deployment and ensure that personnel are maintaining high levels of alertness. These surprise visits are part of a broader initiative aimed at reinforcing vigilance and ensuring that all security arrangements are functioning optimally in anticipation of August 15.
Enhanced surveillance systems, including increased patrolling and stricter vehicle checks, have been implemented across the Union Territory. According to officials, coordination with intelligence agencies has also been intensified to address any potential threats proactively. During the rounds, the DGP reportedly interacted with local station officers, providing direct instructions to further strengthen safety procedures.
Authorities have urged residents to stay aware of their surroundings and to assist law enforcement by promptly reporting any suspicious activity. The goal, officials say, is to ensure a peaceful and incident-free celebration.
As preparations continue, the significance of the national flag, the Tiranga, resonates deeply with citizens. More than a symbol, the flag reflects the country’s journey, resilience, and collective aspirations. Adopted by the Constituent Assembly on July 22, 1947, just weeks before India’s independence, the flag has come to embody unity in diversity. The central Ashoka Chakra, with its 24 spokes, represents progress guided by truth and virtue.
The tricolour, saffron for courage, white for peace, and green for prosperity, remains a proud emblem of the nation’s ideals and the enduring spirit of its people.
With comprehensive security measures in place and community cooperation encouraged, Chandigarh gears up to mark the 78th Independence Day with both pride and precaution.
