Punjab Police Launches Toll-Free Helpline to Report Organised Crime Anonymously

Chandigarh: Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Sunday launched a toll-free helpline number, 1800-330-1100, to enable citizens to report organised crime, including intimidation, extortion, and gangster-related activities, while keeping their identity confidential.

The initiative, introduced under the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has been activated by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) to create a secure communication channel for the public.

During the inauguration, DGP Yadav himself made a trial call to the helpline to check its functioning and interacted with the representative on duty. He assured people that all information received will be treated with strict confidentiality and that callers’ identities will remain fully protected.

“This helpline is a powerful tool for the public to directly assist the police. Reports received here will trigger immediate and coordinated action,” said Yadav in a video message. He urged people across Punjab to save the number and report any incidents without fear, calling it a collective step towards a safer state.

The helpline is centrally monitored under the supervision of ADGP AGTF Promod Ban to ensure prompt follow-up on leads. Calls will be independently managed by specialised AGTF officers, separate from the existing 112 infrastructure, with coordination across districts when required.
