Rupnagar: A fatal road accident on the Rupnagar-Balachaur bypass early Wednesday morning resulted in the death of a car driver and left several others injured. The incident occurred when a private passenger bus collided with a Mahindra Scorpio during the early hours of the day, prompting an immediate emergency response from local authorities.
According to police officials, the driver of the Scorpio died on the spot due to the impact of the collision. Another individual traveling inside the SUV sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby government hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the private bus also suffered severe injuries during the crash, while passengers on board the bus were reported safe. Alternative transport arrangements were subsequently made to send the bus passengers onward to their destinations.
Local police have launched a formal investigation into the incident to establish the exact sequence of events and ascertain the cause of the collision. Law enforcement personnel remain at the scene to complete preliminary inquiries and oversee traffic clearance along the bypass route.
