British Columbia: A Canadian court has handed a 15-year prison sentence to 25-year-old contract killer Tanner Fox in connection with a fatal 2022 shooting in British Columbia, adding to his existing life term for the assassination of former Air India bombing suspect Ripudaman Singh Malik. The British Columbia Supreme Court delivered the ruling on Wednesday after Fox entered a guilty plea to manslaughter with a firearm over the death of 41-year-old Chad Colivas.

The fatal incident occurred on March 21, 2022, when Fox and his accomplice, Laetitia Acera, forcibly entered Colivas’ home in Abbotsford. Colivas, who had no ties to criminal activity, was fatally shot when he confronted Fox during the home invasion. Police arrested both suspects in 2023, following which Acera pleaded guilty to break and enter, receiving a four-year sentence, while Fox subsequently admitted to manslaughter.

Less than four months after the Abbotsford shooting, Fox executed Sikh businessman Ripudaman Singh Malik on July 14, 2022, as Malik sat inside his vehicle at a Surrey business park. Malik had been a primary accused in the 1985 Air India Flight 182 Kanishka bombing that killed 329 people, before his acquittal in 2005 due to insufficient evidence. Fox was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2025 with a 20-year parole ineligibility period for Malik’s murder, though Canadian authorities have not publicly identified who hired him to execute the contract killing.
