Khurja, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh is set to unveil “Anokhi Duniya,” the world’s first park entirely crafted from ceramic waste, officials announced. Located in Khurja, the state’s famed “ceramic capital,” the park is scheduled to open to the public by the end of September.

The initiative forms part of the Yogi government’s efforts to globally promote traditional industries and products, building on the success of the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme. Constructed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the two-acre park transforms over 80 tonnes of discarded ceramic items into nearly 100 unique artworks, including 28 large-scale installations made from broken pitchers, cups, and kettles.

Dr Ankur Lathar, Vice-Chairman of the Bulandshahr-Khurja Development Authority (BKDA), said the park gives Khurja’s ceramic heritage a distinct global identity while demonstrating the potential of waste-to-art initiatives. A team of six artists and 120 artisans worked for months on the project, creating vibrant installations designed to attract tourists.

In addition to the artistic displays, the park will feature selfie points, a cafe, and landscaped greenery. Built at a cost of Rs 5.86 crore, it will charge a minimal entry fee to ensure sustainability. “Anokhi Duniya not only celebrates Khurja’s craftsmanship but also aligns with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by turning waste into functional, creative art,” Dr Lathar added.
