Jammu: A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Jammu has issued a non-bailable warrant against Hafiz Saeed, the Pakistan-based founder of the banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in connection with the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack case.
The order was issued by the Special NIA Court on July 8, shortly after the investigative agency filed a supplementary chargesheet naming Saeed in the case.
The warrant marks a significant development in the ongoing probe, with authorities examining alleged links and involvement of individuals associated with the attack.
Saeed, who has been designated as a global terrorist by India and the United States, is the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba, an organisation banned in several countries. He has also been accused of masterminding the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, one of the deadliest terror incidents in India.
The NIA has been carrying out further investigations into the Pahalgam attack, with the agency filing additional legal documents as part of its probe. The latest court order allows authorities to continue proceedings against Saeed despite his absence.
Officials said further action in the case will proceed according to legal procedures as the investigation continues.
