Patiala: The Patiala Police on Thursday arrested two primary sharpshooters aligned with the notorious Goldy Dhillon criminal network following a high-speed chase and armed encounter. The major anti-gang operation also led to the apprehension of three other close associates who were actively providing vital logistical backing and sophisticated weaponry to the core module. The breakthrough effectively cracks a high-profile public extortion case that had recently shaken local business communities and regional political figures.
The multi-jurisdictional sting operation was executed by specialized anti-crime units of the Patiala Police, working as a synchronized task force. The team comprised Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Patiala Incharge Inspector Pradeep Bajwa, CIA Samana Incharge Inspector Ankurdeep Singh, and CIA Rajpura Incharge Inspector Manpreet Singh. Acting on verified intelligence inputs regarding the movement of the fugitives, the joint teams initiated a live vehicle pursuit. Upon being cornered and ordered to surrender by police personnel, the fleeing suspects opened fire directly at the state police party. During the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one of the primary shooters sustained severe bullet wounds before both criminals were safely overpowered and taken into custody.
Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police Varun Sharma identified the two arrested sharpshooters as Paramjeet Singh, alias Pamma, and Jaskaran Singh, both residents of Hamira village located in the Kapurthala district of Punjab. According to official investigations, these two shooters were directly responsible for a targeted firing incident that occurred on June 26, 2026, at the commercial office of Lakshmi Property Dealer in Rajpura. Following that brazen daylight shooting, Canada-based gang leader Goldy Dhillon openly claimed full responsibility for the attack via viral social media posts and issued severe threats directed at Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Rajpura, Neena Mittal, and her son.
The senior police official emphasized that the successful operation marks a devastating blow to the cross-border Goldy Dhillon network, noting that these suspects represent the 18th and 19th key gang operatives arrested by the district police over the last eight months alone. The three additional associates caught during the wider dragnet are currently undergoing aggressive interrogation to trace the broader supply chain of illegal firearms entering the state. Reaffirming the administration’s stance on safety, SSP Sharma reiterated that the Patiala Police remains completely committed to a zero-tolerance policy against organized extortion rackets and gangland violence, strictly in line with state directives issued by the Director General of Punjab Police.
