New Delhi: As preparations intensify for a student-led protest at Jantar Mantar on June 20, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking financial assistance of ₹1 crore for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide amid ongoing examination-related controversies.

The appeal comes ahead of the organisation’s second demonstration in the national capital, where members are expected to raise concerns over alleged examination irregularities and the impact of uncertainty surrounding competitive exams on students.

In his letter to the Prime Minister, Dipke described the situation as a growing mental health crisis affecting young students across the country.

“I am writing to you today with a heavy heart to bring your urgent attention to an escalating crisis that threatens the very future of our nation — the lives and mental well-being of our young students,” he stated.

Linking student distress to recent developments in the examination system, Dipke claimed that 11 students had died by suicide in recent weeks, including five within the last 48 hours. He alleged that anxiety and uncertainty among students had intensified due to concerns over possible re-examinations and ongoing controversies surrounding entrance tests.

The letter also highlighted the financial difficulties faced by several affected families. According to Dipke, many parents had invested significant savings and taken educational loans to support their children’s academic aspirations.

“Having lost the very children they poured their life savings into educating, these families have been left entirely destitute,” he wrote.

Seeking immediate intervention from the Central Government, the CJP founder demanded a compensation package of ₹1 crore for each affected family. He described the situation as a consequence of what he termed a continuing crisis involving examination-related irregularities and paper leak allegations.

Alongside the compensation demand, Dipke reiterated the organisation’s call for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He said students participating in the campaign were seeking accountability and answers regarding the handling of examination-related issues.

The letter marks the latest escalation in the CJP’s campaign ahead of the planned protest at Jantar Mantar, where the organisation is expected to press for reforms in the examination system, greater transparency and measures aimed at safeguarding students’ mental well-being.

The demonstration is likely to draw students, activists and supporters from different parts of the country as concerns over examination management and student welfare continue to remain in public focus.
