Chandigarh/Amritsar: In a significant security operation, Punjab’s Counter Intelligence Wing has dismantled a cross-border terror network allegedly backed by Pakistan’s intelligence agency. Acting on precise inputs, teams from the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar and Mohali carried out a coordinated raid, leading to the arrest of one suspect.

During the operation, security personnel recovered a cache of weapons, including four hand grenades and two foreign-manufactured pistols along with live ammunition. Officials described the seizure as a crucial step in preventing potential terror activities in the region.

Initial findings suggest that the arrested individual was in contact with handlers operating from abroad and was allegedly following their directives. Investigators have also indicated possible links between the suspect and a terror group previously associated with a grenade attack in Chandigarh, raising concerns about a broader network at play.

A case has been registered at the SSOC police station in Amritsar, and further investigations are in progress. Authorities are now working to trace other members connected to the module and uncover the full extent of the operation.

Punjab Police officials reiterated their resolve to act firmly against organized crime and terror networks, emphasizing that efforts are ongoing to safeguard public security and maintain law and order across the state.
