Abu Dhabi: An Indian citizen sustained minor injuries after being struck by falling debris in Abu Dhabi, following the interception of a ballistic missile by the country’s air defence systems, authorities confirmed on Monday.

According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the incident took place in the Al Shawamekh area after defence systems successfully neutralised an incoming threat. Officials said emergency teams responded promptly and the injured individual received medical attention.

Authorities urged residents to rely only on verified information and avoid circulating unconfirmed reports, as tensions continue to escalate across the region.

The incident comes amid heightened hostilities in West Asia, with the Ministry of Defence UAE stating that its air defence units intercepted multiple aerial threats in recent attacks. These included 25 unmanned aerial vehicles and four ballistic missiles.

Since the escalation began, the UAE has reportedly intercepted a large number of incoming threats, including over 1,700 drones, 15 cruise missiles and more than 300 ballistic missiles, reflecting the intensity of the ongoing conflict.

Despite the successful interceptions, the falling debris highlights the risks faced by civilians even when defence systems prevent direct hits, as regional instability continues to impact daily life.
