Chandigarh: The Haryana Government provides a monthly pension of Rs 3,200 under the Ladli Social Security Pension Scheme to parents who have only daughters and do not have any son, whether biological or adopted. At present, 42,758 eligible families in the state are being provided a monthly benefit of Rs 13 crore 68 lakh 25 thousand 600. The amount is released every month along with other pension schemes and allowances.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishna Kumar Bedi said that during the current financial year, the state government has already provided more than Rs 82 crore 9 lakh 53 thousand 600 under the Ladli Social Security Scheme. He said that the scheme, launched on January 1, 2006, on the lines of the Old Age Allowance Scheme, provides a monthly allowance to parents who have only daughters.
The Cabinet Minister said that under the scheme, the benefit starts when the mother or father attains the age of 45 years. Thus, the benefit starts on the parent’s 45th birthday and continues for 15 years. Thereafter, once the parents attain the age of 60 years, they are covered under the Old Age Samman Allowance Scheme. He said that in the event of the death of either of the parents, the allowance is provided to the surviving mother or father.
To receive benefits under the scheme, the gross annual income of the family from all sources should not exceed Rs 2,00,000. In addition, an eligible family will be entitled to receive the benefit from the date on which either of the parents attains the age of 45 years.
