Kapurthala (Punjab), January 5, 2025: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab Transport Minister Sardar Raghbir Singh, who also served as MLA from the Kapurthala Assembly constituency, passed away on Sunday after a brief illness. He was undergoing treatment at Beas Hospital, where he breathed his last.

His close association with Badal, often described as the “Baba Bohar” of the party, shaped much of his political journey.
Affectionately known among the public as “Minister Sahib,” Raghbir Singh earned widespread respect for his simple lifestyle, clean image and people-first approach to politics. He was known for maintaining deep roots at the grassroots level and was admired across political lines for his humility and dignified conduct.
His passing has left the residents of Kapurthala and the wider political fraternity in mourning, with leaders and supporters recalling his calm demeanour and commitment to public service.
Family sources said the last rites will be performed after the arrival of relatives from abroad. Details regarding the funeral arrangements will be announced later.
