Kyiv: More than 20 civilians were killed in eastern Ukraine on Tuesday when a Russian glide bomb struck the village of Yarova in Donetsk, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported. The attack occurred as residents were receiving their pensions.
Describing the strike as “frankly brutal,” Zelenskyy called on the international community to hold Russia accountable through stronger economic sanctions. “The world should not remain silent. The world should not remain inactive,” he said in a post on Telegram. “The United States, Europe, and the G20 must respond decisively to stop Russia from continuing its attacks that bring death and suffering.”
The incident highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis in eastern Ukraine, where repeated attacks on civilian areas have raised concerns among global leaders and human rights organizations. Zelenskyy’s appeal underscores Kyiv’s push for greater international intervention to curb Russian aggression and protect civilians.
