Ontario: A 25-year-old man originally from Punjab has been arrested in Canada after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Burlington, Ontario. The accused, identified as Mandeep Singh, was reportedly working as an Uber rideshare driver when the alleged incident took place.

According to the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS), the incident occurred on June 16 at approximately 5:15 pm near the Burlington GO Station on Fairview Street. Police said Singh allegedly approached a woman in the station’s parking area and struck up a conversation before sexually assaulting her.

Investigators further alleged that after the woman left the location, the accused followed her to a nearby business, where a second incident of sexual assault is believed to have occurred. The woman did not sustain physical injuries and later reported the matter to the authorities.

The investigation was handled by the HRPS Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit, which identified the suspect. Singh, a resident of Etobicoke, was taken into custody on July 26 and has been charged with two counts of sexual assault. He remained in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

Police said the accused was employed as an Uber driver at the time of the alleged offences and expressed concern that there could be additional victims. Authorities have appealed to anyone who may have information or who may have had similar experiences to come forward and assist the investigation.

In its statement, HRPS reiterated that sexual assault includes any form of sexual contact without consent, regardless of whether physical injuries are present. The police also reminded the public that there is no time limit for reporting such offences, encouraging survivors to contact law enforcement whenever they are ready.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not ruled out the possibility of further charges if more complainants come forward.
