Rawalpindi, Pakistan: Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir’s daughter Mahnoor was married on December 26 in a low-key ceremony held in Rawalpindi, with the event kept away from public attention amid tight security arrangements. The wedding took place at the Pakistan Army Headquarters and was attended by senior political and military figures, though no official photographs were released.

Among those present were President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the ISI chief, along with serving and retired senior army officers and former service chiefs. Sources indicated that the ceremony was conducted discreetly due to prevailing security concerns.

Mahnoor married her first cousin Abdul Rehman, who is General Munir’s nephew. Abdul Rehman is a former Pakistan Army captain who later joined the civil services through a quota reserved for military officers and currently serves as an assistant commissioner. Pakistani journalist Zahid Gishkori reported that around 400 guests attended the wedding, though the overall arrangements remained subdued.

This was the third wedding of General Munir’s daughters, as he has four daughters in total. The event comes at a time when Pakistan’s political and security landscape is under international scrutiny. Recent global reports have raised concerns over the country’s internal security situation and its broader policy direction under the current military leadership. Some international analyses have suggested that Pakistan is facing challenges in managing extremism, border security and regional stability, issues that continue to attract attention beyond its borders.
