Jerusalem (Israel): Israel has reportedly heightened its security preparedness following fresh signals from US President Donald Trump hinting at possible American involvement in Iran, where the country is witnessing its most intense anti-government protests in years.
According to a report citing three participants in recent Israeli security discussions, Israeli authorities are closely monitoring developments and preparing for potential action by the United States. The unrest in Iran has reportedly turned violent, with more than 100 people killed during protests that erupted over economic hardships and later escalated into nationwide calls against the clerical leadership.
Sources told that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the situation during a phone call on Saturday, including the prospect of US intervention as tensions continue to rise in Iran.
Trump further fueled speculation with a post on his Truth Social platform, where he expressed support for Iranian protesters and suggested Washington’s readiness to assist them. “Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help!!!” he wrote.
In recent days, the US president has repeatedly warned Iranian authorities against the use of force on demonstrators, raising concerns about a possible escalation involving external powers.
Iranian officials, meanwhile, have accused the United States of being behind the protests. What began in Tehran as demonstrations over economic grievances around two weeks ago has since spread to multiple cities, transforming into a broader movement challenging Iran’s ruling establishment.
