Toronto: The Toronto authorities are investigating the tragic death of Himanshi Khurana, a young woman of Indian origin, whose body was discovered in the city over the weekend. Canadian police have issued a nationwide arrest warrant for a suspect believed to have been closely connected to the victim.

The Consulate of India in Toronto expressed profound sorrow over the incident, offering condolences to the victim’s family. In a statement posted online, officials said they are closely monitoring the investigation and are providing all necessary support to the family in coordination with local authorities.

Toronto Police reported that the 30-year-old woman went missing late on Friday, December 19. Officers responded to a report of a missing person in the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West area at around 10:41 p.m. The search continued overnight, and the victim’s body was found early the following morning inside a residence at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20. The death is being treated as a homicide.

Authorities identified the deceased as Himanshi Khurana, a resident of Toronto. Police are actively seeking Abdul Ghafoori, 32, who is known to the victim and is now wanted under a Canada-wide first-degree murder warrant. Officials have indicated that the case may involve elements of intimate partner violence, highlighting the ongoing concern over domestic safety.

First-degree murder in Canada carries a life sentence, potentially without parole, if intent and premeditation are proven in court. Police continue to appeal to the public for information that could help locate the suspect and bring justice for the victim.
