New Delhi/Kathmandu: The Indian Army on Monday handed over 50 military utility vehicles to the Nepal Army at the India-Nepal border, highlighting the long-standing defence partnership and close cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

Sharing details of the development on social media, the Indian Army said the vehicles would be formally presented by the Ambassador of India to Nepal during a ceremony scheduled to be held in Kathmandu. Photographs of the handover were also released, showing officials from both sides overseeing the transfer.

The Army said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Nepal Army. It added that the gesture underlines the enduring bond of friendship, trust and cooperation that exists between the armed forces of India and Nepal, which have historically shared close military and cultural ties.

In another development aimed at boosting defence cooperation with friendly foreign nations, the Indian Army also highlighted its collaboration with the Myanmar Army. It said an Indian Army Mobile Training Team from the Simulator Development Division had installed and operationalised a 12-lane Infantry Weapon Training Simulator at the Myanmar Army Combat Forces School in Bahtoo.

According to the Army, comprehensive training was provided to Myanmar Army personnel on handling the system, executing training scenarios and maintaining the equipment. The move is part of India’s broader efforts to support capacity building and professional training of partner armed forces in the region.

The Indian Army said such initiatives reinforce defence diplomacy and contribute to regional stability by promoting interoperability, skill development and mutual trust among friendly nations.
