At Least 15 Killed as Truck Overturns Near Swat Motorway Tunnel

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Pakistan): At least 15 members of the same family were killed and eight others injured on Thursday when a truck overturned near a tunnel on the Swat Motorway in Pakistan’s Malakand district, officials said.

Rescue 1122 spokespersons reported that all victims belonged to a nomadic family from the Gibral area of Bahrain Tehsil, Swat, known for seasonal migration across different regions.

Rescue teams and local police rushed to the scene following an alert and transported the injured and the deceased to the District Headquarter Hospital in Batkhela. At the hospital, doctors confirmed 15 fatalities and provided emergency treatment to eight injured individuals, four of whom were later referred to Swat for specialised care due to the severity of their injuries.

Rescue officials noted that the casualties included men, women, and children, highlighting the tragic scale of the accident.
