Technology – Google has issued a security warning for millions of Chrome users worldwide after detecting a serious zero-day vulnerability affecting older versions of the browser. The flaw, identified as CVE-2025-13233, has already been targeted by cyber attackers, prompting Google to release an urgent security patch.

The newly discovered bug exists in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine, which powers webpage execution. Due to this flaw, the browser may misread certain types of data during execution, potentially leading to memory corruption. Hackers could exploit this loophole to run malicious code on targeted devices, posing a significant security risk.

Google revealed that attackers had attempted to exploit the vulnerability even before the company identified it. The issue was first detected by Google’s Threat Analysis Group on November 12, making it the seventh zero-day flaw discovered in 2025 where hackers found the vulnerability before developers.

To counter the threat, Google has rolled out a security patch and urged all users to update Chrome immediately. The company stressed that timely updates are essential to protect devices from cyberattacks, advising users to regularly update Chrome and other applications to maintain security.
