Rajgir: Team India scripted history on Sunday by outclassing South Korea 4-1 in the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 final held at the Rajgir Sports Complex in Bihar. The victory not only handed India its fourth Asia Cup crown but also guaranteed the team a place in the 2026 World Cup.
The hosts wasted no time in asserting dominance, as Sukhjeet Singh found the net in the very first minute of play. Forward Dilpreet Singh doubled the lead in the second quarter and added another in the third, leaving the Korean defense struggling. In the final stretch, Amit Rohidas converted a penalty corner to push India’s tally to four. South Korea’s Son Dayan struck late to avoid a clean sweep.
India’s commanding win came against a side with five Asia Cup titles to its name. Interestingly, this is only the second time South Korea has finished runners-up, with the previous instance also being a loss to India in the 2007 final. India had last lifted the trophy in 2017 by beating Malaysia.
The result underlined India’s growing dominance in Asian hockey while igniting hopes for a strong campaign at the global stage next year.
