Patna: Teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a jaw-dropping performance on Wednesday, smashing a blistering 190 off just 84 balls for Bihar in their Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh.

The 14-year-old opener tore into the opposition bowling from the outset and reached his century in a mere 36 deliveries. His innings featured 15 towering sixes and 16 fours, turning the contest into a one-sided spectacle on the opening day of the 50-over domestic tournament.

Suryavanshi’s hundred now stands as the second-fastest by an Indian in List A cricket. Only Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh has reached the landmark quicker, achieving a 35-ball century against the same opposition in 2024.

The remarkable knock came just three days after Suryavanshi failed to make an impact in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup against Pakistan in the UAE. His response underlined his temperament and ability to bounce back under pressure, despite his tender age.

The world record for the fastest List A century remains with Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk, who reached three figures in 29 balls for South Australia against Tasmania during the 2023–24 season. South African great AB de Villiers follows closely with his iconic 31-ball hundred against West Indies in Johannesburg.

With this innings, Suryavanshi also etched his name into the record books as the youngest player ever to score a century in List A cricket, further cementing his status as one of India’s most exciting young batting prospects.
