Ludhiana: Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu visited Ludhiana Railway Station to assess arrangements and ensure smooth travel for passengers heading to Bihar for Chhath Puja. During the visit, the minister interacted with railway officials and passengers, emphasizing safety and comfort.
Bittu began the inspection by meeting senior railway officials to review security measures, ticketing arrangements, and holding areas. He also toured the station’s control room to observe operations and coordination in real time. Following the official inspection, he spoke with travelers to address their concerns and provide guidance for a safe journey.
Passenger Safety Guidance
The minister urged passengers not to travel in train toilets or bathrooms, and advised against sitting on doors or outside the compartments. He highlighted that the Railways has complete data on bookings and waiting lists, and assured travelers that additional trains are being arranged to accommodate everyone. Bittu reiterated that Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav and the Ministry are closely monitoring the travel arrangements.
Special Trains and Holding Areas
Bittu informed that more than 170 special trains are operating from Punjab to cater to the Chhath Puja rush. To avoid overcrowding at stations, holding areas with necessary facilities have been set up, including at Ludhiana, providing passengers with seating, water, and basic amenities.
Reporting Issues During Travel
Passengers were advised to report any suspicious activity or unattended objects to railway authorities or the control room immediately. Bittu stressed that prompt reporting is essential to ensure the safety and security of all travelers.
The visit reflects the Ministry of Railways’ proactive measures to manage the seasonal rush efficiently and maintain safety standards, ensuring pilgrims can travel comfortably and securely during the festival.
