Barnala: In a significant move against organized crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab, in coordination with Barnala Police, apprehended two alleged operatives of the notorious Bambiha Gang during a targeted operation.
The arrested individuals, identified as Sandeep Singh and Sekher, are believed to be closely associated with the gang’s illegal arms supply network. Authorities seized a cache of weapons from their possession, including six pistols — one PX5, four .32 bore pistols, and one .30 bore pistol — along with 19 live cartridges.
Initial investigations suggest that the duo was acting on instructions from overseas handlers, with plans to supply these weapons to Bambiha Gang operatives for carrying out high-profile criminal activities in the state.
“The arrest is a major step in dismantling the gang’s weapons pipeline,” said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. “Punjab Police is unwavering in its commitment to disrupting the ecosystem of organized crime and choking the supply of illegal firearms.”
The operation is part of a broader crackdown on gangster syndicates operating in and beyond Punjab’s borders. Officials confirmed that efforts are now underway to trace the full network involved in the arms trade — from suppliers and handlers to potential recipients.
The arrests mark another milestone in Punjab’s ongoing efforts to neutralize the threat of gang violence and dismantle the infrastructure that fuels it. Further inquiries are being conducted to uncover the group’s wider operations and international connections.
Authorities have assured that more actions will follow in the coming days as they work to break down criminal networks threatening the state’s security and peace.
