Ferozepur (Punjab): Train operations across Punjab will face significant disruption for three days, from October 12 to 14, due to major construction work on the Sahnewal–Amritsar section under the Firozpur Rail Division.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sanjeev Kumar announced that the traffic block has been scheduled to accelerate the construction of a new railway bridge at gate number S-70, located between Jalandhar Cantt and Chiheru stations.
During the three-day period, at least 13 trains will be affected — with some facing delays, others being diverted, and a few short-terminated to accommodate the construction activity.
According to the railways, several express trains, including the CST-Amritsar Express, Purnia Court–Amritsar Express, Jaynagar–Amritsar Express, and Katra–Ambedkar Nagar Express, will face delays ranging from 40 to 90 minutes. On October 14, the New Delhi–Amritsar Express will be short-terminated at Phagwara and return as Train 12498 to New Delhi.
Additionally, two major trains will be diverted. The New Delhi–Lohian Khas Express will operate via Ludhiana–Phillaur–Nakodar–Lohian Khas, skipping Jalandhar City, while the Amritsar–Ajmer Express will run via Kapurthala and Lohian Khas to Ferozepur, bypassing Phagwara and Jalandhar.
Railway officials have urged passengers to verify updated schedules in advance and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the construction period.
