New Delhi: A 34-year-old man was discovered dead late Thursday night near Khajuri Chowk in northeast Delhi, bearing multiple stab wounds, police officials confirmed on Friday.

The victim has been identified as Gajender, a resident of Dayalpur who worked as a barber in the surrounding area. His body was found in the Khadar locality, not far from the busy Khajuri Chowk intersection.

According to the Delhi Police, a distress call was received by the New Usmanpur police station at approximately 11:27 p.m. on Thursday, reporting the sighting of an injured person lying motionless in the area.

“A team was immediately dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, the officers found a man with several stab injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” a senior police official said.

The crime scene was cordoned off for forensic examination, and an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances leading to the attack. No arrests have been made so far.

“Preliminary inquiries suggest the attack occurred late in the evening. We are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and speaking to locals to piece together what happened,” the officer added.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and the police are not ruling out any possibilities, including personal enmity or a robbery attempt gone wrong.

The body was taken to the morgue for a post-mortem examination, and Gajender’s family has been notified. A case of murder has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Locals expressed shock over the incident, saying Gajender was a familiar face in the community and had been working as a barber for several years.

Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
