Chandigarh – Sant Baba Baljinder Singh of Rara Sahib passed away on Monday, coinciding with the 50th death anniversary of Sant Baba Ishar Singh Ji. The news was confirmed by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who expressed deep sorrow and said Baba Baljinder Singh dedicated his life to the service of Sikh Panth and spreading the teachings of Gurbani.

Baba Baljinder Singh, an MA by education, was widely regarded as a progressive saint who embraced modern technologies while upholding Sikh values. Known for his forward-thinking approach, he supported several initiatives for education and skill development. Among them were the proposed conversion of Government College Karmasar into a technical college, the launch of a B.Sc. Nursing course, a granthi training course through Guru Granth Sahib University, and multiple technical short-term courses, including plumbing, masonry, carpentry, and electrician training. These initiatives, however, are now expected to face a delay of at least six months.

Followers and devotees remembered him as a spiritual guide who combined tradition with progress, encouraging youth to pursue both education and spirituality. His passing has been described as a major loss to the Sikh community.

Condolences have poured in from across Punjab, with CM Bhagwant Mann calling him a “beacon of selfless service and Gurbani’s light.”
