Amritsar: Activists of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), led by Iman Singh Mann, staged a protest against the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in Amritsar on Thursday over the issue of 328 missing saroops of Guru Granth Sahib.
Raising slogans and holding placards, the protesters accused the SGPC of failing to cooperate with the ongoing probe into the matter. Addressing the media during the protest, Iman Singh Mann alleged that the SGPC had deliberately avoided accountability and transparency in a case deeply linked to Sikh religious sentiments.
As a symbolic gesture, Mann said the party workers had brought bangles for the SGPC leadership, remarking that the organisation had shown “cowardice” by refusing to assist investigators in uncovering the truth behind the missing saroops.
He asserted that the issue was not merely administrative but related to the sanctity of Sikh religious scriptures, and warned that continued non-cooperation by the SGPC would further erode public trust. The protesters demanded a time-bound and impartial investigation and urged the SGPC to fully cooperate with authorities to bring clarity and justice in the case.
The protest concluded peacefully under police presence.
