Rising Ghaggar River Prompts Cautionary Alert in Patiala District

Patiala: Following persistent rainfall in the catchment area, the Ghaggar River has once again swelled at Bhankharpur, prompting the Patiala District Administration to issue a safety alert for nearby villages.

SDM Rajpura, Avikesh Gupta, has specifically advised residents of Untsar, Nanheri, Sanjarpur, Lachhru, Kamalpur, Rampur, Saunta, Maru, and Chamaru to remain careful and avoid approaching the riverbanks. For real-time assistance, the Rajpura flood control room can be reached at 01762-224132.

In a separate advisory, SDM Dudhan Sadhan, Kirpalveer Singh, cautioned people living in Bhasmra and Jalahkhedi Raju Khedi to stay alert. Similarly, SDM Patiala, Harjot Kaur Mavi, has asked communities in Hadana, Pur, and Sirkappara to follow precautionary measures.

Emergency contact numbers 0175-2350550 and 0175-2358550 have been shared for residents to report excess water flow or emergencies. Officials also appealed to the public not to rely on unverified information and to avoid spreading rumors.
