Chandigarh: Owing to the relentless downpour across Punjab since last night, the state government has ordered the closure of all colleges, universities, and polytechnic institutes until September 3, 2025.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced the decision on X, stressing that the safety of students remains the government’s top priority. He further directed that administrations of institutions must take complete responsibility for hostel residents, ensuring their well-being during this period.

The minister also appealed to citizens and students to comply with instructions issued by district authorities and remain vigilant in view of the adverse weather conditions.

This move follows earlier orders shutting down schools across the state, as heavy rains continue to disrupt normal life and raise concerns over flooding in several districts.

The schools in Punjab have also been ordered to remain close untill September 3.
