Amritsar: In response to the severe floods that have impacted large parts of Punjab, Reliance Industries has rolled out a comprehensive humanitarian initiative to support affected communities.

The company said its teams have been working closely with state authorities, local panchayats, and community stakeholders, particularly in the worst-hit villages of Amritsar and Sultanpur Lodhi.

“Our hearts go out to the people of Punjab in this hour of suffering. Families have lost homes, livelihoods, and security. The entire Reliance family stands with them, providing food, water, shelter, and care for both people and animals. This ten-point plan reflects our commitment that We Care,” said Anant Ambani, Director, Reliance Industries Limited.

As part of its relief efforts, Reliance is distributing dry ration kits to 10,000 of the most-affected families, while providing voucher-based assistance of Rs 5,000 each to 1,000 particularly vulnerable households, including those led by single women and the elderly. Community kitchens are receiving dry ration support to ensure immediate nourishment, while portable water filters are being deployed to guarantee safe drinking water. Emergency shelter kits, including tarpaulins, mosquito nets, bedding, and ropes, are being provided to displaced families. Sanitation kits and hygiene essentials are also being distributed to every affected household.

Livestock care is being prioritized amid reports of animals in distress due to waterlogging. Reliance Foundation and Vantara, in coordination with the Animal Husbandry Department, are establishing livestock camps to deliver medicines, vaccines, and veterinary care. Additionally, 3,000 silage bundles are being provided to nearly 5,000 cattle. Vantara’s 50-member expert team is working to treat rescued animals, manage scientific cremation of deceased livestock, and prevent disease outbreaks.

Reliance teams are working around the clock alongside district administrations, panchayats, and local authorities to provide immediate relief while planning medium-term recovery measures. Jio teams have also been actively restoring network connectivity in flood-affected areas, ensuring reliable communication for residents and relief operations.

The Reliance Retail team, in coordination with volunteers and Reliance Foundation, is distributing carefully curated dry-ration and sanitation kits with 21 essential items to identified communities.

“In this moment of crisis, Reliance is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Punjab, taking collective action with care and compassion to help the state recover and emerge stronger,” the Reliance Foundation statement said.
