Chandigarh: Punjab’s flagship anti-drug initiative ‘Yudh Nashe Viruddh’ has completed 200 days, with law enforcement reporting sweeping crackdowns on traffickers and networks across the state. Officials said the sustained campaign has “broken the backbone” of peddling rackets through targeted raids, coordinated operations, and intensified prosecution.

According to official figures, 29,930 alleged drug traffickers have been arrested since the launch of the campaign. Major seizures include 1,255 kg of heroin, 464 kg of ganja, and over 33 lakh intoxicant tablets and capsules. Authorities also recovered Rs 12.65 crore in cash, believed to be proceeds of the narcotics trade.

Marking the milestone, police launched fresh operations on Day 200, arresting 93 accused and confiscating large quantities of heroin and other contraband. In a single-day push, over 150 teams carried out 414 raids, checked 449 individuals, and registered 61 FIRs.

Officials highlighted that the campaign relies on actionable intelligence, swift inter-district coordination, and constant pressure on supply chains. Parallel to enforcement, efforts have been directed at rehabilitation support for drug dependents and public awareness programs to reduce substance abuse.
