Punjab Weather Update: Temperature 2.2°C Below Normal, Dry Spell to Continue Across State

Chandigarh: Punjab continues to experience cooler-than-usual conditions for this time of the year, with the state’s average temperature currently 2.2°C below the seasonal norm, despite a slight rise recorded in the last 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Centre, no rainfall is expected across the state over the next week, and weather will remain dry and sunny.

The highest temperature during the past day was logged at 32.8°C in Bathinda, while most regions hovered around the 30°C mark. The overall temperature increase in the past 24 hours was just 0.4°C, suggesting that the influence of the recent western disturbance has significantly weakened.

Weather Favourable for Crops

Agricultural experts say the clear skies and warm days could prove beneficial, particularly for paddy farmers. Excess rainfall in September had delayed the maturity of the paddy crop in several regions. The current weather pattern — warm days with some humidity — is expected to aid ripening and support harvesting in the coming weeks.

“Sunshine at this stage is a good sign for standing crops. It also helps maintain moderate moisture levels, which is important for late-stage paddy fields,” an agricultural officer noted.

Day Temperatures to Rise Slightly

Forecasts suggest that maximum daytime temperatures may climb by 2–3°C over the next few days. However, meteorologists expect this increase to stabilize soon after, with daytime highs settling back to near-normal levels.

Night Chill to Intensify

While days will remain moderately warm, nights are expected to become cooler. Most cities are currently recording nighttime lows around 18°C, and this is not expected to cross the 20°C mark in the coming week. The onset of colder nights signals a seasonal transition as Punjab moves closer to winter.

City-wise Weather Forecast for Today:

  • Amritsar: Clear skies; Temperature range – 18°C to 30°C

  • Jalandhar: Sunny and dry; Temperature range – 18°C to 30°C

  • Ludhiana: Bright and clear; Temperature range – 18°C to 30°C

  • Patiala: Sunny conditions; Temperature range – 18°C to 31°C

  • Mohali: Clear and dry; Temperature range – 19°C to 31°C

With no rain on the horizon and temperatures gradually rising, residents can expect consistent autumn-like weather throughout Punjab. Authorities have advised farmers to take advantage of the dry conditions for crop management and harvesting activities.
