Chandigarh— Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took a firm stand on the state’s core inter-state issues during the Northern Zonal Council meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Mann reiterated Punjab’s long-held positions on water sharing, Panjab University (PU), and Chandigarh, making it clear that the state would not compromise on matters linked to its rights and identity.

Speaking after the meeting, CM Mann said that 28 issues were discussed in total, with 11 specifically concerning Punjab. “I presented Punjab’s stand on all 11 issues,” he said, adding that the neighbouring states were categorically told that Punjab has “not a single extra drop of water” to spare.

On Panjab University and Chandigarh, Mann repeated Punjab’s historical claims, asserting that both belong solely to the state. “PU and Chandigarh are ours, and Punjab has full rights over them,” he stated, noting that he conveyed this position unambiguously to the Union Home Minister.

Mann said the state’s stance was conveyed with complete clarity to ensure that Punjab’s constitutional and cultural claims remain firmly upheld in all future deliberations.
