Ludhiana: In a significant counter-terrorism breakthrough, the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police have busted an ISI-backed grenade attack module and arrested 10 individuals allegedly working under the direction of foreign-based handlers, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav announced on Thursday.
According to Yadav, the preliminary probe revealed that the accused were in contact with handlers in Pakistan through three intermediaries operating from Malaysia. The network was reportedly coordinating the pickup and delivery of a hand grenade meant for an attack in a densely populated area of Punjab.
“The handlers had directed the group to carry out a grenade attack with the objective of spreading panic and disrupting peace in the state,” DGP Yadav stated in a post on X.
He reiterated that the Punjab Police is fully committed to neutralizing terror modules and dismantling cross-border networks attempting to destabilize the region. “Our focus remains on ensuring the safety and security of Punjab by eliminating any terror threats at their roots,” he said.
